TEP’s winery experience spans all facets of HVAC, plumbing and refrigeration systems for winery production and hospitality facilities. The founding partners of TEP started designing winery systems in the late 1980’s and have a portfolio of over 600 winery projects. Our expertise includes cooling, heating and humidification of barrel rooms; wine production and hospitality caves; heating, cooling and controls for wine tanks; plus design of hospitality venues. We design night air cooling systems, CO2 evacuation systems, must cooling and heating systems, bottling line utilities & radiant cooling for caves. Plumbing systems include water heating, compressed air systems nitrogen generation and process waste piping.
While the general parameters of winery needs have not changed a great deal over the years, the mechanical systems used have evolved to be more energy efficient and environmentally sensitive. We have designed one LEED platinum winery, three LEED Gold wineries, and one Living Building Challenge accredited winery.
We have witnessed the advent of reduced water use requirements, power systems that function through PG&E power outages, reduced dependence on fossil fuel combustion and greater use of renewable and environmentally friendly materials, and an evolution in types of refrigerants.
