Nickel & Nickel Winery
The Nickel & Nickel Winery project involved work on
three unique buildings:
The fermentation building, which resembles a barn, stands
on top of a 30,000 square foot underground barrel cellar. Both the fermentation
building and the barrel cellar have state of the art mechanical systems,
however to keep true to the building architecture, all piping and mechanical
components are hidden from view – this was no small undertaking! Additionally,
the barrel cellar is “invisibly” cooled by a radiant cooling system.
The lab and office building is a circa 1770 New Hampshire
hay barn that was disassembled, shipped and reassembled on site.
The hospitality center is a restored Queen Anne style
house built in 1884. The remodeled house has an extensive wine cellar, commercial
kitchen, banquet room, tasting room and reception room.
Nickel & Nickel currently produces single-vineyard Chardonnay,
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel. Long-range plans call for
the production of as many as twenty-five 100 percent varietal, single-vineyard
wines. Salute!
